Humana Team Members Devote Memorial Day to Veterans

Humana has a dedicated team of associates that works daily to meet the needs of Veterans and their families and help them achieve lifelong well-being. As part of their efforts for Veterans, Humana associates were proud to be part of many Humana-sponsored observances leading up to and on Memorial Day weekend to honor members of the U.S. armed forces who died serving their country.

Team members showed their support for Veterans in many ways during the three-day Rolling to Remember event in Washington, D.C., that raised awareness about issues facing Veterans. Associates placed American flags on gravesites at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, VA, to honor the fallen, participated in a push-up challenge to bring awareness to the problem of suicide among Veterans, and welcomed home and honored Vietnam veterans, presenting them with Vietnam War Veterans commemoration pins at the Humana display at Thunder Alley.

In Daytona Beach, FL, associates participated in the Heroes Honor Festival that featured the Humana-sponsored Vietnam War Veterans commemoration pinning ceremony on May 28. Earlier in the week, on May 24, associates helped make the Salute the Troops concert a success at the Grand Ole Opry, where Humana and USAA made a special donation to provide DAV (Disabled American Veterans) support for the work they do for Veterans.  

“We are proud and honored to sponsor and take part in these events to honor the Veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” said Ed Sandrick, Humana’s Veterans Channel leader. “Our team of associates dedicated their Memorial Day weekend to making sure that all of our nation’s Veterans receive the recognition they deserve, and their participation is a shining example of how they give of themselves every day on behalf of all of our Veterans.”
