Active-duty service members, National reservists, veterans and their family members have made extraordinary commitments to our nation, and Humana is committed to our military community. We administer health benefits for nearly 6 million active-duty military across 32 states and Washington, D.C., via TRICARE—a healthcare program providing benefits to active and retired military members and their families—and Humana’s Honor Plan is the nation’s largest Medicare Advantage plan designed around the needs of veteran seniors. Recognizing the importance of having a workforce that reflects the military communities we serve, Humana has been actively supporting career opportunities that meet the needs of veterans and military spouses since the launch of our Veterans Hiring Initiative in 2011, which has resulted in the hiring of roughly 6,000 veterans and military spouses to date. As we continue in this work, we are thrilled to once again be recognized by both Military Times and Military Friendly® for these efforts.
Military Times
Military Times, a leading source for independent news and information for service members and their families, recognized Humana in its 2023 Best for Vets: Employers list among ranking #12 in the Healthcare, Health Services and Medical Equipment category and #113 in Large Enterprise. In its 14th year, Military Times Best for Vets rankings are based on the results of a voluntary survey that covers policies and practices that make companies an attractive place to work for current employees and future job seekers within the military community. The survey captures the areas of greatest importance to transitioning service members, veterans and their families when looking for an employer. Recruitment and employment practices, as well as retention and support programs, are given the most weight and importance in scoring and final rankings..
Military Friendly®
Formed in 2003 to advocate for civilian career opportunities for veterans, Military Friendly® releases an annual list of employers measuring each organizations’ commitment, effort and success in creating sustainable and meaningful career opportunities for the military community. The military friendly designation serves as a valuable benchmarking tool for Humana in its efforts to recruit, retain and advance veterans within the company. For the 2024 list, Humana receives the “Gold” designation in the large company category (defined as having over $5 billion in revenue).
