The Humana Foundation is proud to announce the appointment of two distinguished leaders to its Board of Directors: Douglas Edwards, President of Humana Military, and Bethanie Stein, President of Pharmacy at Humana. Their deep expertise in healthcare operations, strategic planning and organizational leadership will be instrumental in helping guide the Foundation’s mission to advance health equity and improve community well-being.
As the Humana Foundation continues to drive its strategy and expand impact, Douglas and Bethanie bring a wealth of experience that will help enhance the Foundation’s vision and guide its efforts to create sustainable, community-centered solutions. Their leadership across complex healthcare systems and commitment to innovation and inclusion align strongly with the Foundation’s goals.

Douglas Edwards – President, Humana Military:
Douglas Edwards serves as President of Humana Military, leading a team of over 2,200 employees who support over 4.5 million TRICARE East beneficiaries across 24 states and Washington D.C. He oversees clinical programs, provider networks, analytics and strategic planning to support military families. During his tenure at Humana, Douglas has held several senior leadership roles, driving enterprise-wide initiatives in human resources, workplace operations, and digital transformation, including the development of “Future of Work” principles for more than 60,000 employees.
Douglas holds an MBA from UNC-Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from NC State University. He serves on the boards of Goodwill Industries of Kentucky and DIRTT, is a member of both the Executive Leadership Council and World 50 and is an alum of Leadership Louisville and Leadership Charlotte.
Bethanie Stein – President, Pharmacy:
Bethanie Stein serves as President of Humana’s Pharmacy business, overseeing strategic growth and operations across CenterWell Pharmacy, CenterWell Specialty Pharmacy and Humana Pharmacy Solutions. She originally joined Humana as a pharmacy resident in 2009 and has since held key leadership roles including Senior Vice President of Humana’s Pharmacy Benefit Manager, Vice President of Supply Chain and Analytics, Associate Vice President of Trade Relations and various roles in Medicare Rebate Contracting and Clinical Strategies.
Bethanie earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She also completed a PGY1 Managed Care Residency through Humana. She serves on the board of directors for DomaniRx, Duquesne University School of Pharmacy and The Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE).
