Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are integral to how we practice and deliver human care to the communities we proudly serve. Our commitment extends to our suppliers – we believe a diverse supply network is imperative. Humana supports and promotes the growth and development of businesses that reflect the diversity of our members, patients, employees and the communities we serve. Our Supplier Diversity Program is a core component of this effort as we cultivate relationships with partners across minority-, women-, LGBTQ+-, disability-, veteran- and disadvantaged-owned businesses, as well as HUBZone and small businesses.
Recently, our supplier diversity team collaborated with V-Soft to host an event for participants of our Mentor-Protégé Program to demonstrate ways companies can support Environmental, Social and Governance efforts through sustainability best practices. The Mentor Protégé Program is a 12-month experience with half-day, onsite seminars featuring leadership from across our organization and exploring topics that impact the growth and operations of small and diverse businesses. During the event, Purna Veer, a graduate of the program, shared some of his businesses’ best practices around environmental, social and governance efforts, including V-Soft’s strategy to deliver services in a way that minimizes environmental impact and promotes business integrity while caring for the overall wellbeing of their employees. V-Soft puts sustainability into action by reusing packaging to bundle food and clothing to be donated to Home of the Innocents, a program that enriches the lives of children and families in our hometown Louisville.
Humana is committed to protecting the health of our environment and developing health equity within our communities. We encourage the companies and organizations with which we partner to adopt the same goals. To learn more about our commitment to sustainability, please read our Impact Report.
