Humana Named a Top Veteran Employer by Military Times

The Military Times, a leading source for independent news and information for service members and their families, recently recognized Humana in its 2022 Best for Vets: Employers list. Out of 230 organizations that submitted responses to the survey, 175 employers made the list, with Humana ranking #30 overall and #2 in the Healthcare, Health Services and Medical Equipment category. 

In its 13th year, Military Times Best for Vets: Employers rankings are based on the results of a voluntary survey that covered the policies and practices that make companies an attractive place to work for current employees and future job seekers within the military community. The survey captures the areas of greatest importance to transitioning service members, veterans, and their families when looking for an employer. Recruitment and employment practices, as well as retention and support programs, were given the most weight and importance in scoring and final rankings. 

Humana understands and appreciates the extraordinary commitments veterans have made for our nation. We currently administer health benefits for nearly 6 million active-duty military across 32 states and DC via TRICARE, and Humana’s Honor Plan is the nation’s largest Medicare Advantage plan designed around the needs of Veteran seniors. We believe it is important that our workforce reflect the military communities that we serve. To help us achieve this, Humana launched the Veterans Hiring Initiative in August 2011. Since then, we have hired more than 6,000 veterans and military spouses. The objectives of our initiative are to: 

• Provide employment and development opportunities to veterans and their spouses

• Meet our talent demands with uniquely qualified talent from the military community

• Be a corporate leader in support of the overall military community
