Humana Named “Best of the Best” for Supplier Diversity Initiatives

Humana recently received two awards on behalf of its supplier diversity efforts – the National Minority Supplier Development Council’s (NMSDC) Forefront 50: Top Corporations for Minority Businesses and the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce  (NGLCC) and the National Business Inclusion Consortium’s (NBIC) “Best-of-the-Best” Corporations for Inclusion.

The NMSDC is the oldest and largest national diverse-owned business certification organization with over 500 corporate members. The Forefront 50 recognizes the corporation’s that are leveling the playing field and ensuring access and equity for systemically excluded entrepreneurs of color. Recognized organizations were selected from companies that applied for The Forefront 50 and were reviewed by a panel of minority business enterprises (MBEs) in conjunction with submissions from NMSDC’s regional affiliate council Corporation of the Year winners.

The NGLCC, the business voice of the LGBT community and exclusive certification body for LGBT-owned businesses, in collaboration with its partners in the National Business Inclusion Consortium (NBIC), has named the seventh annual cohort of Best-of-the-Best list of corporations in America committed to diversity and inclusion across diverse segments. Only companies achieving industry-leading results across all diverse segments are eligible to receive the prestigious Best-of-the-Best designation from the NBIC.

At Humana, we want our vendors and suppliers to help drive innovation, improve quality, sustain growth, and advance our vision of a world where everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. We set yearly business enterprise goals to initiate an increased total diverse supplier spend.  In fiscal year 2021, our total spend was $345 million, at 8.99%, and we are projecting to exceed 9% in fiscal year 2022.  Partnerships are critical to drive forward our Supplier Diversity Program, which is part of Humana’s ongoing Environmental, Social and Governance work.
