Humana and CenterWell Open Senior Primary Care Clinic at Emancipation Park in Houston's Third Ward

Humana and CenterWell Senior Primary Care are collaborating to open senior primary care clinics across Texas in underserved communities. Proximity and accessibility of high-quality care is often a significant barrier to health, and both Humana and CenterWell Senior Primary Care “are dedicated to expanding access to care and advancing health equity in the communities they serve.

Among the new locations is a clinic across from Emancipation Park in Houston’s Third Ward. Emancipation Park was founded in 1872 when community members, all formerly enslaved, united to raise $1,000 to purchase 10 acres of park land. Since then, the park has been used to commemorate the anniversary of their emancipation from slavery and host Juneteenth celebrations.
